Where the Unhurried Gather

Vaz House is named for Joseph Bernard James, known to everyone as Vaz. He was a Jamaican painter, an artist who was forever reimagining the spaces around him and making them feel alive. But what people remember most is the way he gathered them. In his company, no one stayed a stranger for long, and no one was ever rushed.

That spirit is where Vaz House begins. For his granddaughter and founder, it is personal: her coffee ritual started young, brewing a cup for her grandfather each morning and learning early that hospitality is an act of care, and that the slow making of a thing is part of the gift.

Vaz House carries that forward into something new. A place on the Cheney Rail Trail in Manchester where the music is warm, the coffee has a reason to be slow, and the door stays open a little longer than it needs to.

We are just getting started, and we intend to earn every cup.
